What’s new at PAFF?

Festival PAFF will take place at the cultural centre in Pezinok on 17 and 18 March 2017. All alternative film lovers & maniacs be ready! During the two days we will introduce the newest and freshest films made by local and international filmmakers. Film screenings will be accompanied by various events, such as workshops, art competition and exhibition, concerts etc. As usually, the entrance is free. Here, Matej from PAFF team talks about some news and plans for the thirteenth volume of the festival.

Can you say a little more about accompanying events?

We are planning several workshops, showing various aspects of film production. There will be a bigger concert on Friday night with three performing bands, as opposed to the past years when we did a folk concert. Saturday night will be closed by a massive party with DJs and a concert. During the day, there will be a make-up artist available for those who want to get a film mask. There will be a chill-out zone for resting with a second film screen, and of course our great buffet.

What is the deadline for submitting a film?

The deadline for submissions is actually one of our news this year and it is 4 th March 2017.

Are there any other news at PAFF this year?

The main news is probably the jury. Up until now the winner of our film competition was chosen strictly by our audience. But filmmakers who submit their films felt like having another opinion, a professional one. We believe that having the jury will be beneficial to our visitors and to us, too. So there will be three competitions this year, the main category will have the audience award and the jury award and the 13-second film category will have the audience award.

What is the main driving force of the festival – visitors, the team or some specific need to have a film festival?

All together probably. We’re all friends and we love our festival, we like to meet up and organise it. Our visitors are the best and we’re very grateful for their positive feedback. I would recommend PAFF experience to everyone, it’s very special. Our cinema is full of people who enjoy films and are happy to be together. PAFF is not just a film festival, it means friendship. For many people it is a place to meet once a year.
